Belize is a small country in Central America formerly known as British Honduras and is a land of diversity. Bordered to the north by Mexico, south and west by Guatemala and overlooking the Caribbean Sea, it hosts the second longest barrier reef on the planet. Tropical rivers flow out of the jungle and the interior mountains hide ancient archeological sites of the enigmatic Mayans. Offshore islands, atolls and reefs and the famous Blue Hole are a playground for visitors and the jungle rivers offer the adventurer an opportunity to cavort with nature in a primal setting. Belize City is an international banking center and the country’s economy is rounded out with tourism.
