With Germany, Poland, Austria and Slovakia bordering it, The Czech Republic has become a hot spot for tourism ever since 1989. The most visited spot is Prague, famous for it's historical significance mixed with a more modern way of life. The Republic's favorite sports follow that of other European countries with their loyalties lying with football(soccer) and Ice Hockey. The country's two biggest rivers are the Elbe and the Vltava which are providers of water for the land locked country. The Czech Republic is also famous for the numerous puppet festivals held year long. Along with puppet festivals, the Czech are also famous for their theatre festival which is held every year. In 1993, the country became divided up into the independent Czech Republic and Slovakia. It has become recognized by the World Bank and it became a member if the European Union in 2004. It is one of the most diverse and traveled to countries in Europe.
