Surrounded by the Republic of South Africa, with water and diamond resources, Lesotho, formerly Basutoland gained its independence from Britain and became the Kingdom of Lesotho in 1966. Maletsunyane Falls, Mapeshoane, Teyateyaneng, Butha-Buthe, Mokhotlong, and Road to Oxbow draw travelers from around the world. With a relatively high adult literacy, the country has become the largest exporter of garments to the United States from Sub-Saharan Africa.
