Lesotho

Surrounded by the Republic of South Africa, with water and diamond resources, Lesotho, formerly Basutoland gained its independence from Britain and became the Kingdom of Lesotho in 1966. Maletsunyane Falls, Mapeshoane, Teyateyaneng, Butha-Buthe, Mokhotlong, and Road to Oxbow draw travelers from around the world. With a relatively high adult literacy, the country has become the largest exporter of garments to the United States from Sub-Saharan Africa. Visit the Morija Museum & Archives, Mohale's Hoek, Qacha's Neck, and Roma to explore the culture and history of the country. It also boasts of schools and universities, which includes Saint Mary's Convent College, Maputsoe English Medium School, Assumption High School, John Maund High School, and the National University of Lesotho. The 4th of October is a national holiday to celebrate the independence of the country.
