Lithuania is small Northern European country with a population of 3.2 million in 2011. Some of Lithuania's major landmarks reside in the city of Vilnius. These landmarks include St. Anna's Church and Gediminas Castle. The Hill of Crosses resides in the the town of Siauliai. There are many folk festivals that the Lithuanian people use to remember national songs and dances. One of the largest festivals is the Kaipeda Sea festival; located in the Kaipeda port. The country's climate ranges between maritime and continental, and is relatively mild. In Lithuania, there are various festivals that celebrate the arts such as: film festivals, music festivals, and theater festivals. Since Lithuania declared its independence in 1990, it has maintained strong democratic traditions.
