Mexico

Mexico, the fifth largest country in the Americas, is known primarily for its numerous Pre-Columbian archaeological sites. The largest and earliest pyramid complex in Mexico is Teotihuacan, just outside the capital, Mexico City. The so-called Pyramid of the Sun at Teotihuacan is more massive than the Great Pyramid at Giza. The most popular site with foreign visitors, however, is probably the complex at Chichen Itza in the Yucatan Peninsula. It ranks fifth in the world in the number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites but is also known for its many seaside resorts. Tourism has become a major source of revenue for the country. The country is considered a megadiverse country with over 700 known species of reptiles as well as hundreds of species of mammals and amphibians.
