The wealthiest city state in the world, Dubai, is located in the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.), in Western Asia on the Persian Gulf. The country is actually divided up into 7 states called emirates; Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah, and Umm al-Quwain. Abu Dhabi is the capital and center of cultural, industrial, and political activities. If traveling to the U.A.E., most will choose to stay in Dubai because of its many manmade wonders, to include the indoor ski park, the tallest building in the world, and a hotel that resembles a giant sail boat. Some have recognized the emirates as having the most prestigious and growing contemporary art center in the world.
